Sherman is making headlines again—and this time, it’s not for a new manufacturing plant or tech expansion. Community Hospital Corporation (CHC) has officially announced plans for a $400 million nonprofit acute care hospital, Heritage Regional Medical Center (HRMC), set to reshape healthcare access and drive economic growth in our region.

What We Know So Far

Located within the Heritage Ranch master-planned community near U.S. 82 and FM 1417, the hospital will break ground in early 2026 and open in early 2028.

  • Initial Phase: 100 inpatient beds, with advanced facilities for surgery, imaging, emergency care, and outpatient services.
  • Future Growth: Designed to expand to 300 beds, ready to meet the healthcare needs of a rapidly growing population.
  • Job Impact: 400+ jobs at launch, scaling to 1,000+ positions as the facility grows.

Why This Matters for the Silicon Prairie

North Texas has been one of the fastest-growing regions in the country, and Sherman has been at the center of that boom. The arrival of HRMC means more than just world-class medical care—it signals long-term investment in our community’s infrastructure.

This hospital will serve Sherman, surrounding Grayson County communities, and even southern Oklahoma. That wider service area will likely bring more residents, encourage new business development, and spark increased demand for housing.

Economic Ripple Effects

Large-scale healthcare projects don’t just build hospitals—they create entire ecosystems. We can expect:

  • New housing developments to support incoming healthcare workers and their families.
  • Retail and hospitality growth, including new restaurants, hotels, and service providers to accommodate patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Infrastructure upgrades, improving roads, utilities, and community amenities.

With Heritage Ranch already designed as a mixed-use master-planned community, HRMC will be a key anchor, attracting both residential and commercial investment.

Leadership with Local Roots

Leading the charge is Ron Seal, the hospital’s CEO and former head of Texoma Medical Center. His familiarity with our region’s healthcare landscape ensures HRMC is being built with our community’s needs in mind. As a nonprofit, every dollar earned will be reinvested into expanding services and technology.

Looking Ahead

The next few years will be crucial. Community input will help shape HRMC’s services and ensure it reflects the needs of North Texas residents. For homeowners, investors, and local entrepreneurs, now is the time to watch—and participate in—Sherman’s next chapter.
